About Beijing Exhibition Center (BEC)
Built in 1954, Beijing Exhibition Center (BEC) is the first large-scale and comprehensive exhibition center in Beijing, with its name written by Chairman Mao Zedong and the ribbon-cutting ceremony presided over by Premier Zhou Enlai. BEC covers a land area of about 132,000 square meters, with main buildings covering 88,500 square meters and the main hall having a construction area of 50,400 square meters. The center has indoor exhibition area of 20,000 square meters and outdoor exhibition area of 10,000 square meters. In December 2007, BEC was included in the List of Extraordinary Modern Buildings for Protection in Beijing (First Batch), and in September 2016, it was included in the first batch of 'China's 20th Century Architectural Heritage'. BEC has undertaken major exhibitions including 'The Glorious Course—Exhibition of Achievements Made in the 50 Years of the People's Republic of China', ITS World Congress, and Olympic Expo Beijing 2008.
