Buffalo RiverWorks is a premier multipurpose indoor and outdoor entertainment venue and restaurant located on the shore of the Buffalo River in Buffalo, New York. The facility is built on the site of the former GLF grain elevator complex and incorporates the original Wheeler grain elevator that was constructed in 1909, representing an adaptive reuse of historic industrial infrastructure. The venue features a massive 60,000 square foot indoor event center that can accommodate up to 5,000 people for concerts and entertainment events, along with a 1,500 person banquet facility. The complex includes multiple bars, restaurants including The Ward, a martial arts dojo, locker rooms for sports leagues, and the first permanent purpose-built flat track roller derby track in the world. Additionally, Buffalo RiverWorks features two 50,000 square foot covered outdoor ice rinks that serve as venues for ice hockey, roller hockey, box lacrosse, and curling leagues during winter months, and convert to roller derby, tennis, volleyball and concert space during summer. The venue hosts a wide variety of events including concerts, banquets, weddings, corporate events, sports tournaments, festivals, trade shows, conventions, art demonstrations and fundraising events. Notable events have included the Labatt Blue Pond Hockey Tournament since 2014, Queen City Roller Derby since 2016, professional wrestling events, and major music festivals. The facility also includes Buffalo RiverWorks Brewing Company, Riverland Amusement Park with the Buffal-O Ferris Wheel, Ales & Axes, arcade facilities, and waterfront docking for recreational boaters. Located in Buffalo's Old First Ward along the waterfront, the venue serves as a key entertainment destination just half a mile from KeyBank Center and Canalside, contributing to downtown Buffalo's ongoing revitalization efforts.
